Ashley (@hubba_jubba_max): “Being active has helped me to regain control of my life. Growing up it was easy to feel like I had no control over my body because I was constantly in and out of the hospital, going to various doctors and being put on different medications to try and control my rare bleeding disorder. Sometimes I felt like I was a lab rat undergoing experimentation.

“Working out gave me a control over my body that I never felt like I had before. I was able to test my limits and prove doctors wrong about things they said I couldn’t do. I played lacrosse, I got tattoos, I ran tough mudders and recently I rode a 100k cycle race. I would have never thought these things were possible if I didn’t test my limits through exercise.

“My advice to other Badasses is to not let your illness define you and to find the things you are passionate about and put your all into them. You really never know what you can do until you try.”
